The plant processes the C4 fraction through an initial extractive distillation using dimethylformamide (DMF), by separating the butylenes and butanes from the butadiene and acetylenics. With a second extractive distillation it separates the vinyl acetylene, and finally, through a rectification process, it separates the methyl acetylene and the heavy hydrocarbons from the 1,3-butadiene (butadiene).
These three main sections are combined with others using vessels to purify the solvent and to additivate the processing of various chemicals from a condensation water circuit, from a tower water circuit and from a flare and draining header. The produced butadiene has a minimum purity of 99.6%. A recovery of 98% in weight is expected compared to the inflowing butadiene with C4 fraction
Details:
Butanol Distillation The building plot is a concrete roof with connected steel construction coated with fire prevention coating. Reboiler, pumps and distillate tanks are below concrete roof. Total plot dimension of main units is 35 m broad, 18/25 m deep and 10 m high (column height on top). The distillation unit was completely reequipped with Windows NT based DCS-system CS3000 from Yokogawa in year 2000. Unit has two production lines with following components: Production line 1: 2 columns, 4 reboilers, pre-heater, 3 condensers, 4 tanks, 9 pumps Production line 2: 3 columns, 3 reboilers, 2 pre-heaters, 7 condensers, 2 cooler, 5 tanks, 13 pumps
